567 posts · Joined 2010. #1 · Mar 3, 2019. I’m wondering if anyone else has compared the S&W Victory with the Ruger Mk IV. I’ve owned several Ruger .22 pistols over time. I currently have a 22/45 Lite and a Hunter and I am not dissatisfied with either of them. The Lite is threaded so it’s great to shoot suppressed.
A Smith 41 is a competitive target pistol. An $868.00 pistol is not. Despite is being from Smith's Performance Center there's no comparison between an SW22, entry level, .22 target pistol and a 41 at $1,369.00 or $1,619.00. I don't want to spend more than about $500. I'm narrowing my choices down to two possibilities: 1) Smith & Wesson SW22 Victory. 2) Browning Buck Mark Practical, URX grip. I've had a Bushnell TRS 25 on a Ruger mark III for several years without any problems. 3 MOA dot, waterproof and shockproof, has held zero near consistently that whole time. Has done everything a red dot should do and done it well. Just checking, Amazon has it right now for $65 and change.

Overall, between the two, I found the SW 22 ( PC and non-PC) more enjoyable, versatile and accurate . Now if we were going to talk SW22PC vs MK IV steel target the discussion would likely be different. I love my MK I/II/III/I I find the grip frame too light for accurate shooting/ real target work. pistols , just not the Lite versions.I prefer the Mark III or IV, but not the 22/45 versions. The grip angle feels wrong even though I shoot 1911's often. The standard Mark grip just feels better to me. Stingers are extremely accurate in my short 4.75" barrel Standard model pistols. But they have too much impulse energy and pummel the bolt stop pin, which in turn pummels the receiver holes. This may seem disloyal for a major S&W fan but I have both Ruger MKII & Browning Buckmark but after hearing of the barrel screw issues w/ the Victory have zero interest in owning one. The Ruger & Browning are very accurate & there's no need to remove the barrel to clean them.
