The BCG spring is higher for MCX uppers so it goes above the buffer spring tube on a regular AR lower. The benefit of this is that you can also run sig stocks since it has the picitanny rail on the back. You just take out the regular buffer spring tube and replace it with this and you should be G2G (again that is just from my research.

I also bought a separate 14.5" barrel conversion kit recently, but that barrel is tapered at the end.
