I just don't think it would make sense for the series at all. The whole series revolves around Maddie's connection to the living with Simon. Half the show is things going on in the ghost world and half things going on in the living world. If he killed Maddie, there is no longer a link. Maddie moves on and Simon gets locked up away from the school.
