Mathews phase 4 vs hoyt vtm.
My most recent bow was a Hoyt Defiant 34 which I loved but I'm ready for an upgrade and am torn between these two great bows. I shot both and love the Hoyt's look and feel. I also like how quiet and dead the Phase 4 is as well as the bridge lock tech. Anyone with experience in either bow, hit me with your honest feedback/ recommendations.

The thing is, the V3X/Phase 4 and Ventum Pro/VTM are still better than those bows even after their big changes. I’m not a guy who buys a new bow every year (sorry Mathews)! I tend to wait until I feel like the technology has advanced to a point that it makes sense to upgrade. That was this year, with the Phase 4-33. I switched from another brand to my first Mathews. I went all in with the entire bridgelock set-up. I have been beyond impressed!

I switched from 85% to 80 because the western state I hunt each year is 80% max lefoff. I did have an acclimation period with the lower letoff but the change only affected how the bow felt to me.I will say the Hoyt's DL felt short on both the 30 and 33 in comparison to the Mathews. I was surprised that the longer ata Hoyt draw cycle wasnt as linear as the 30. It had a small dump into the valley similar to the Mathews. The Hoyt 33 also had just a slight buzz in the palm of my hand and it wasnt as quiet as the 30 or the V3X.I think if you haven’t had a Hoyt and you can afford the VTM it’s definitely worth it. However if you bought a Ventum Pro used I don’t think you’d miss a ton if you wanted to save a little. I also think the Phase 4 is smoother to draw with less of a dump. Not that the Lift is bad, it's just more noticeable. The phase 4 is also more "jumpy" on the release despite the weight difference.
