Katanas are nice, but you might want to check the short sword. Try a combo like heavy -> light, light, light, light. It seriously destroys everything. Katanas have some awesome combos too (for example heavy, light, heavy, light), but they eat a lot of stamina. A bit of grit is very recommended because the combos are quite long.
I prefer a Corrupted Strength build. Voidforged Dragon Armor has a higher armor value (chest is 420 vs GB 350). It also has other attributes (chest has a bonus to strength weapon damage).
