James River Armory was founded some 16 years ago, initially to provide reproduction Civil War-era firearms for re-enactors and collectors. Based in North Carolina, the company remanufactured Italian-made muskets that gained popularity. From there, the company moved into another more recent era, with firearms from the WWII and Vietnam period.

Before you buy a JRA Rockola, ask for photos of barrel alignment, specifically feed ramps being centered properly was an issue I saw twice. I bought 3 of them when they first came out, with custom serial numbers. I also helped some of my friends get theirs ordered with custom numbers as well.

Hi everyone, question for the M14 crowd. I just picked up a new James River Armory (JRA) civilian M14. It's gorgeous, but when I try to "rock and lock" the factory Checkmate Industries 20 rounder in — it doesn't go in nice. I actually have slam it HARD with the palm of my hand, using about 80 foot pounds of man-force.

I think the real M14 heal is cool for a collector, but as a shooter I like the solid, one piece forging of my receiver. I have no data on the welded M14 receivers, so they may prove to be just as reliable as mine.
