I ended up frankensteining the two and took all the good working parts between the two and combining them into one functioning revolver. I've decided to send back the "bad" Rough Rider with all the bad issues combined into one (weak hammer spring, weak trigger, bad timing) and am going to send back to Heritage and see what they'll do.

I was having frequent light strikes with my Rough Rider using a variety of ammo with both the 22lr and magnum cylinders. I found that there was a ridge in the casting on the left side of the hammer. The hammer was also shifted to the left within the frame.

Wanted to share that I also had an issue with the loading gate and hammer - both were bent/warped. I was able to hammer the loading gate flatter but no luck with the hammer. Called heritage and as a one time courtesy, they shipped me a new hammer and gate for free (as opposed to me shipping them to the gun to repair).

Love my Heritage Rough Riders. I now have 3 with one more in State Mandated Day Care (the 3" with the Birds Head).
