The #1 reason to bring Aethelflaed is her skill. Her secondary skill is nice, and basically has an up time of 3s for every 10 - this isn't something I'm relying on to pursue / escape opponents with. If you want to do that - use cavalry commanders; any combination has more synergy with march speed / cav atk & def.

Edward of Woodstock should be the primary commander in this pairing in order to fully benefit from his active skill’s direct damage factor.
For infantry you're looking at Expertised Charles Martel's +20%, & Alexander the Great's third skill which gives +30%. Archers has El Cid, which gives 15% base from his third skill, and +25% as a get out of jail free card when below 50% health from his fourth. Amongst the epics, only Hermann has march speed. Alex/Charles for both for infantry.
