I used Expedia to book through Avis a small SUV (Ssangyong Tivoli), which is actually a small crossover and it cost 371 USD for a week. I prefer this route rather than saving a few tens of dollars with a smaller company.

Leisure Car Rental is FANTASTIC! We reserved online in advance and they met us at the airport with our name on a board and with the car, ready to go. For aprox $450 we rented a medium size car with full insurance and $0 deductible for the entire week in St. Maarten! The car was brand new, with only 2,800 miles on it.

If you send via mail it may never get here. If the recipient has a forwarding address in Miami (we do) it is fed xed to SXM a couple times a week. VERY expensive to receive anything that doesn't fit in an envelope. Other choice is to ship sea cargo.
