From your serial #and the features on it, according to my database, it's officially named ".38 Chiefs (plural but not possessive) Special" - Model of 1953 'New' J frame, and most likely shipped in Jan -Feb of 1959. It should be stamped Model 36 on the frame, seen with the Yoke opened and cyl swung out. Finish is around 85% I would guess. (I had the wonderful "History Of Smith & Wesson" book by Roy Jinks years ago, but I ended up selling it) I was told it was made around 1973 - 1974 on the other forum, but I wanted to ask here. the serial number is J215224. Your 629-3 was made in 1992. You need to find a ruler or tape measure or a smartphone app and measure that barrel. A 5" barrel has a 50% premium over other lengths. From what I can see, it appears to be a 6" barrel.
