Nov 5, 2011 · That powder is not recommended for use in the 45-70...its better suited to 30-30, 35 Remington, etc. It is not the same powder that is used in the LeveRevolution 45-70 ammo, there are several different blends of the LeveRevoluton powder and each blend is sorta caliber specific.

This load is fast enough, very accurate, and gives no pressure problems IN MY RIFLE! I think IMR-4198 is a little faster so you should find specific load info for it. Pretty good powder for the .45-70 IMHO.

MV was 1020 (average of 5 shots) compared to 1370 from Pinnacle loads, and bench-rest groupings at 100 yards were modest (15"-18" and to the right) compared to results from Pinnacle (8"-10" groupings and pretty much dead on). ….

This load has been around for more then 50 yrs. Use it with a 300gr cast for varmints and kids plinking in any 45-70 that is tight and safe to shoot including the original civil war era trap doors. You have to match the powder for the job. There is no one-fitzall out there. Been there done this for 50+ years.

Triple Seven pellets under a sabot with a 250 gr. XTP, and I can regulate the .45-70 to hit the same POI as the Huntsman. That cuts out a little second guessing.

I bought it a both Bass Pro and Brownells this last year, I use it for many calibers. I use it for 300, 350 and 405 jacketed bullet loads.From what I can tell, Benchmarck is a little too slow to get the best velocities from a 405gr bullet.
