It is faster, more mobile and generally better for normal ammo types like pierce and spread. The things the HBG has over on the LBG though are better special ammo (in my opinion), charge shots and more damage per shot.

RF Pierce 2 is just better than Pierce 3 is because you can mod it to get low reload and recoil, plus Pierce 3 can actually get the full damage when you're fighting a very large/long monster, meanwhile RF Pierce 2 is usually enough (and OP) for most monsters. Plus it's fun, and really easy to build.As for my personal raw (spread or pierce) LBG dango its: Level 4 Bird Caller. Level 3 Defender, Moxie, or Booster depending on quest. Level 1 Temper. If Quest gave rainbow bird at start (most arena quest), replace Bird Callers with Defender or Moxie. Note: level 1 temper is the same as level 2 but with added deviation.

Jho has higher raw and Sleep ammo as a mez. Blackwing II has an extra augment slot, one deco slot, and less deviation. If you invest all your custom upgrades into attack, the difference in sticky damage is tiny. So I say start with Jho and eventually at like MR100 you can farm enough to make Blackwing a better choice.

I used wroggi and GI LBG up until I made the narga bowgun, but you can probably use rheno or dreamshell armour for pierce up to boost damage a bit. Also consider HR ore for Normal 2 spam and HR remobra for Shrapnel/Spread, but both drop off substantially, and GI has the advantage of RF slicing as well for more mats via tails.
