I am not certain if this applies to the 8th generation Malibu, but on my 7th generation Malibu I discovered when you put the battery cover back on make sure to get tab on the fender side of the cover into the slot in the body. If you miss it, you may get an annoying rattle from under the hood.Trunk release not working properly. I have a 2011 Malibu LT. My trunk release has not been working properly. It will work every now and then, but most of the time I'll push the button and hear a loud, rapid clicking noise- like it's trying to open but is too weak. The emergency release works fine.
