But before that i was too cheap to buy one so what i did was i took my fuel filter which was located right below the pump, sprayed alot of throttle body cleaner on it, and then blasted it out with the air ...Carb fuel leak. This may have been asked and answered elsewhere, but I was unable to find an answer. I have a 2005 Foreman 500 that is leaking past the float valve. I have replaced the float valve and cleaned the seat with carb cleaner spray and a q-tip. When you blow through the fuel inlet on carb you can still get leakage past valve.tool. you can order just the wrench from dynojet part#DT008 cost is $3 + s/h. this is what i done hope it helps. 05 foreman 500. qs1 hmf pipe and 165 jet. 26" swamplites. Unbolt it, pull it out (the float is the size of the opening, and you have to turn it on it's side to get it out). Look at the reostat on the sending unit. Mine on my 06 was all corroded. I got a used sending unit and everything works fine now.
Remove that, unhook the cable from the throttle linkage and unscrew the cable from the carb. The choke you just unscrew the plastic nut from the carb and it all pulls out. The carb heater will unplug at the wiring harness. Just follow the wires back to the connector. I think these might run more on the blackish mark, but if it's a real dark black it would indicate it is running rich which could explain the back fire. Definately shouldn't be wet (sign of plug fouling). As for the filter.
