Memento benefits from hybrid build. Especially if you have 2~3 blue or yellow core instead of full red. Personally, I'd go for a 3 red 2 blue build with technician. That way you still have a decent damage output and survivability and 2 skill tiers with the backpack. Memento is very good.

Backpack Target Loot is the best way to get it. Countdown with targeted loot set to backpacks. Also use your countdown credits to purchase exotic caches. Double up. Weekly donation and summit projects give you an exotic cache each. Edit: and the weekly legendary mission. So you can get three exotics every week.
