TLDR: Putting the modem into Bridge Mode (Transparent Bridging) disables the 10Gb NIC when plugged into the UDM-Pro, and forces me to use only 1Gb LAN to the UDM-Pro.. The other Reddit posts I read ahead of my installation said that the best option for using your own router is to set the ONT to bridge mode, and then configure your router with the PPPOE username/password, along with a 201 VLAN Tag.

That one LAN port on the C5500XK is connected to an Unmanaged Layer2 8-port switch and all the ports on the switch are connected to the patch panel that feeds all the RJ-45 jacks in the rest of the apartment.
